Your probably confused at the title here. India makes cars? Who knew? Well if you knew or didn’t know, you are going to be amazing at the following numbers. India’s compounded annual growth rate has surpassed China, with a rate of 14.47% according to a NY Times article on Oct 12, 2007. Tata Motors is planning to release a new car with a price tag of 2,500 dollars. They hope millions of people who were not able to afford a car before, be able to purchase this new car. The market demand for this new extremely low cost car is going to be huge. Over 300 million by 2020 are expected to be buying. This begs the question, how energy efficient are these new cars going to be? Are we rapidly increasing the problem of global warning if everyone in India and China were able to finally afford cars. Not only that but the Oil left in the world would start being consumed at a faster and faster rate then ever before. Car maker companies are to focused on making money then what is going to happen with the health of planet Earth. Auto makers engineers work hard to provide low cost cars for everyone, what they are working hard at is increasing the already overloaded problem of pollution. The problems are so gigantic that people don’t believe the problems even exist. It will be a sad day when the realization sinks in that it’s already the point of no return. Many won’t be alive to see the day right now but do they not care that there children will be alive to see the harm you have done to our planet.
