Iran + Nukes = ??? October 22, 2007

The Bush administration has had a bad rap for awhile now, especially with its stance on the Middle East. Bush is adamant on preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and this is one point that can’t be ignored or taken idly. Sheryl Gay Stonlerg from the NY Times on Oct 19, 2007 writes Bush Says “Nuclear-Armed Iran risks world war III.” Because of all the religious feelings and problems in that area it is a very real threat that either side would use on if they ever get one. Armageddon could become that site of WWIII just as is prophesied; the war to end all wars. I fear some Jihad extremist or even an Iran government launching nuclear weapons and then a dominoes effect to occur. M.D.D. (Mutually Assured Destruction) is so real and the minds of extremists who die willingly scare me senseless if Nukes get in the wrong hands. How Bush goes about the issue could quickly degrade how the world sees America. Politics is a tricky thing where one small action can lead to total catastrophe.

TV Online… October 22, 2007

The internet is a serious problem for the big TV networks because of the amount of pirating taking place. The music industry has suffered largely because of this already. The small file sizes of music made it very easy for anyone to download quickly and whenever they wanted. Many programs have made it easy to search for pirated copies and download without relieving their identity. TV is trying desperately to avoid the road music took off on, writes a NY Times article on Oct 19, 2007. TV is already available in many forms on the internet today legally and illegally. Many of the large Networks offer free shows online but the selection is limited and hardly convenient. The problem is the amount of data in videos. The only people that can stream the live feeds from the big networks are those with expensive fast internet and the quality is so crappy it is hard to stand. When people can choose from downloading a show overnight and then watch it whenever they wish, the decision is easy. Proper internet protection from downloading illegal content is sorry at best

Your probably confused at the title here. India makes cars? Who knew? Well if you knew or didn’t know, you are going to be amazing at the following numbers. India’s compounded annual growth rate has surpassed China, with a rate of 14.47% according to a NY Times article on Oct 12, 2007. Tata Motors is planning to release a new car with a price tag of 2,500 dollars. They hope millions of people who were not able to afford a car before, be able to purchase this new car. The market demand for this new extremely low cost car is going to be huge. Over 300 million by 2020 are expected to be buying. This begs the question, how energy efficient are these new cars going to be? Are we rapidly increasing the problem of global warning if everyone in India and China were able to finally afford cars. Not only that but the Oil left in the world would start being consumed at a faster and faster rate then ever before. Car maker companies are to focused on making money then what is going to happen with the health of planet Earth. Auto makers engineers work hard to provide low cost cars for everyone, what they are working hard at is increasing the already overloaded problem of pollution. The problems are so gigantic that people don’t believe the problems even exist. It will be a sad day when the realization sinks in that it’s already the point of no return. Many won’t be alive to see the day right now but do they not care that there children will be alive to see the harm you have done to our planet.

NY Times September 26, 2007. “Reward for Fans, and Microsoft.” The greatest game ever released has finally been put in the hands of gamers all across America. over 1.7 million consumers pre-ordered the game and in the first 24 hours over 125 million dollars was brought in. Video games are reaching and surpassing movies in price. It wasn’t too long ago that video games were played by the few geeks and nerds however this has quite rapidly changed over the life of video games. Games are looking more real and have cinematic qualities. More and more movies are having games written for them and soon games will have movies made about them. This trend will continue to grow. I believe eventually graphics will catch up to movie quality and all movies will be interactive the same way games are today. The popularity of Halo shows the huge number of gamers out there willing to shell out the dough for their beloved games.

Social Networking October 22, 2007

In a NY Times article on Oct 17, 2007, Anne Barnard writes about Facebook and Social Networking. MySpace is notoriously known forĀ  sexual predators and children. Facebook is an increasingly popular site which boasts to be a safe site for people to interact very similar to MySpace. However, after the attorney general’s department of economic justice posed as teens and started receiving dirty messages Facebook now needs to write that their site is not safe from these types of predators. I myself created a Facebook just a month or two ago and do not find much use in it. It is not completely useless, just a waste of time to spend hour(s) a day on. The nice parts of it are being able to post something for all of your friends, and only your friends, to see at once like a trip for example. Spending so much time just typing away on the computer is more of a waste of time. Go outside and socialize instead of using the “SuperPoke” application on Facebook. I just installed it and within a few hours was completely annoyed by the whole idea. Sending out an emote like a “hug”, “slap”, “punch” and so on to all of your friends and then getting an email to notify you is beyond a waste of time. Social Networks have there benefits but they are way overused and abused by young kids and dirty old men. Predicting the future of the internet would be like predicting rain a couple years in advance. However its not hard to foresee a dark and windy path.

Generation Q October 22, 2007

In a NY Times opinion article on Oct 10, 2007, Thomas L. Friedman gives his opinions on this generation of young adult Americans. He calls them Generation Q, Q for quite. However, the method he basis his article on is extremely generalized and biased. During his time as a younger adult the issues were quite different. He explains how people would go out and protest in huge demonstrations for Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy. His claims that we are the quite generation are based on no numbers or statistics but 1 week visiting 3 random colleges. He generalizes that we are more optimistic and idealistic yet less radical and politically engaged. He generalizes that students are giong abroad to study in record numbers. He generalizes that most young adults do nothing but blog about there opinions. The generalizations go on and on. The internet is a tool that we have never had before except relatively recently, along with the amount of mass media. It changes the way people respond to news and the amount of news out there constantly coming out is mind boggling. The internet is a way to share ideas with far more people then anyway previous. Mr. Friedman is angry about what politics has done which, be believes, should prompt a lot more activism and outrage at our current situation. This truth is the reason for calling us Generation Q. However, generalized it may seem there may be a hint of truth in it. Government is for the people by the people and from the people. We need to speak out about this war and global warming far more aggressively then we are now.

Jihad threats in our own backyard. October 22, 2007

The Middle East has been a center for war, religion, and disputes since history began. The small area of land where almost all major religion began has been fought over is the center for nearly every religious war ever. It is by no coincidence that the United States gets its hands dirty in that oil rich and conflict rich part of the world. By doing so it has invited there problems into our homeland. Jihad extremists will stop at nothing to preach their beliefs. A NY Times Articles on Oct 15, 2007 discusses how a Jihad is going on over the internet and is targeting the U.S. Even U.S. citizens are using YouTube or blogs to aim at young American and European Muslims. The idea of Jihads seem pointless and wasteful. War over religious believes goes against everything religion stands for. Religion was meant to be peaceful but since the beginning it has always been twisted by people of influence to suit their needs and mislead those who trust them.

Welcome to Technology Today, an experiment in blogging. October 8, 2007

Technology today is a revolving gun constantly shooting off in all directions. This blog is nothing more than an experiment in blogging. Are you reading this as an experienced blogger or is this your first blog? If you answered yes to the latter then I am right there with you. Blogs always felt like a waste of time to me. A place where unrestricted ideas can flow free of being held accountable for validity or correctness. Any one can spout there hopes, desires, opinions, beliefs on a blog and then, anyone can come hear it. The main problem I have always had with blogs is when people take to much stock in what people have written in blogs. “You read it on the internet, so it must be true.” It’s just a joke right? It’s so funny because it’s true…. and the largest source of false information on the web today is what? Thats right its blogs. Now here we get into some conundrums. This is a blog right? If you believe what I am saying, should you really believe what I am saying?

I really go off tangent after the first sentence and well in the title of this blog entry too. However, this is the first entry and I needed to share my opinions about blogging. Isn’t this the true purpose of blogging. To express opinions in a unrestricted manner. I promise the next blogs to have more tech themes that really express some of my ideas and hopefully get some thought provoked comments back.
